Mindful Eating & Exercise is truly the ONLY way to feel better
I have been on a no exercise, weight loss roller coaster my whole life. Married at 15 yrs old to an emotional abuser and sometimes physical, I ate my life away. I ate for boredom, for peace of mind and for something to make me feel better even if it was for just the few moments while I was eating, and I just never had time for exercise. He walked out in 2010 (25 yrs) and never came back, leaving myself and our 17 yr old son with all the bills, and no money. I slipped into a deep depression, wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t leave the house would barely move. Having just had back surgery 4 weeks before his leaving there wasn’t much I could do physically to help my mental state that much and exercise was a big no-no. So I sat and drank water and maybe a piece of toast every 2 days. I lost 65 lbs in just 6 weeks. I was looking GREAT but I had lost it so fast and by doing nothing but not eating, my skin was starting to hang. Being just 39 yrs old I decided to WAKE UP! I couldn’t continue to live this way, my son needed me.
I decided to get my butt out of my chair and start moving. I wanted to continue to lose weight but I wanted to start living as well. I got on my treadmill everyday and walked for about 30 min. When I was feeling exceptionally good I would get on my Wii fit and box and walk the competition in the Wii fit Plus game. I would drink a protein shake in the morning so I could slowly get my appetite back, I would eat something very small at lunch. I made myself get out in the sunshine every day and force myself to visit with my friends if even if it was for an hour a day.
By the time 2011 came out I had lost a total of 100 lbs and was physically feeling AMAZING! The doctors had me on anti depressant that would not cause weight gain and I was not eating any sugar at all. Not drinking any alcohol helped as well. I was still baking and cooking to make myself feel better BUT I wasn’t eating it. I would let my son and his friends eat the baked goods, or I would give them to my family. Win / Win .
I was happy and feeling better than I ever have and with so much energy, I would go for 2 hours walks & was eating better than I ever have in my life. Then it started to crash again, court hearings, support issues, he made me sell our home and move into an apartment. I was getting verbally abused by his new gf’s family when ever I went out into public. My depression started to get really bad again, lost my brother from cancer and I just started falling again. The weight started to come back. I wasn’t eating properly and hardly ever leaving the house again and not going for walks. That’s when I realized it was happening again and I wasn’t going to allow it.
So back on my treadmill and a whole new way of eating, I realized I needed to think of a new relationship with food. I found a group on Facebook that was having the same issues as I do, starting talking with them and reading the struggles of other life stories and decided this time I’m going to do this the right way! The forever way. There are no magic pills, no gimmicks, no risk free promises. It is all up to you! You have to get moving, you have to eat smart and you have to get your mind healthy. I’m not asking for funding for anything, not trying to take your money at all. I just know it takes knowledge and determination and being able to chat with people who are struggling with the same issues. I’m suggesting reading my mindful eating post and subscribing to my site (free free) and let’s take our lives back 1 lb at a time. I’m offering for a 90 day challenge starting June 15th 2017. I will send you a printable diary to keep track of your goals, what you eat and how you feel. I will add new healthy recipes for you to try. You will be able to write guest posts about your journey and we can chat in comments in the posts.
